Baby Shower Drinks

The appropriate baby shower drinks are as important as the food. Baby showers are not the usual occasions where any type of drink may be served. These celebrations are all about welcoming and new life, and so themes including decorations, food, and drinks must be fitted to the occasion.

Since the guest of honor is an expectant mother, it is rather appropriate to serve drinks that are non-alcoholic. Baby shower drinks non-alcoholic will be in solidarity with the mom-to-be, as well as the whole theme. Drinks such as juice, iced tea, punch, lemonade, soda, coffee, or tea are great baby shower drinks. Ensure that sugar, cream, and both blue and pink sweeteners are ready for coffee drinkers. However, if the guest of honor does not mind, then wine or other “alcoholic” drinks may also be served.

Baby Shower Drink Ideas

There are several types of non-alcoholic drinks to choose from for baby showers, but perhaps the most commonly delicious drinks served are fruit punches. These drinks provide a refreshing and cool beverage, especially during hot afternoon parties. Picking the type of punch to serve doesn’t need to be an overwhelming task.

All it takes is simply sticking with the party’s theme or motif –there are numerous punches available in different colors. If the party is a “pretty in pink” party, then a lovely creamy pink punch will do the trick, or if the baby’s gender is not known, then a yellow or green fruit punch is perfect. Here are some delicious punch recipes that can be served for refreshments:

Sherbet Punch

Place sherbet inside a punch bowl and allow it to melt a little. After it has melted, add a Sprite or 7-Up little by little, pouring it down on the bowl’s side so it doesn’t get too foamy. Select a sherbet color that matches the motif or shower decorations. For instance, choose lime sherbet for green and yellow motifs, or raspberry sherbet for blue and pink colors. Pineapple sherbet is mainly white so it works well with just about any theme color.

Mint Julep

Gather the ingredients which include mint leaves freshly cut,two lemons, one-half cup honey or sugar, and about one gallon water. Carefully wash the one-half cup mint leaves, and put inside a blender container or food processor. Microwave the two lemons for about ten seconds. Squeeze the lemon juice and add the juice to the mint inside the blender. Next put in honey or sugar, then cover and blend until mint has been minced. Pour the mixture into a pitcher, and add the gallon of water. Decorate with fresh leaves of mint.

Baby Blue Punch

The ingredients include one bottle of a 2-liter Sprite, one 64-ounce white cranberry juice, eight scoops of vanilla ice cream, one cup of white sugar, and one package of blue “berry-flavored” unsweetened drink mix. In a big punch bowl, mix the “drink mix”, white cranberry juice, and lemon-lime soda. Add scoops of the vanilla ice cream to the punch’s top. The vanilla ice cream will thaw and turn the color of the punch into blue with foamy floating white clouds at the top.

Punches don’t require being hidden off in some corner like sodas; they can be beautiful center pieces of the table served in gorgeous punchbowls. They can also be made from various ingredients, and can be decorated with frozen or fresh fruits.

Ordinary baby shower cups for drinks can be replaced with fun and enjoyable baby bottles, to add a little amusing “twist” with the drinks. Just remove the covers of baby bottles, and replace them with colorful straws and cocktail umbrellas. These are neat glass ideas for drinks which guests will find enjoyable too.

Baby shower drinks need to be appropriate for the occasion. Serving punches are popular traditions since the mom-to-be can’t drink alcohol. Punch beverages are very well-liked, especially during baby showers held in the summer. Whatever the type of non-alcoholic drink chosen for the shower, serving it with a creative and beautiful presentation will add glamour to even the simplest of drinks.
