Baby Shower Games

Baby shower games bring life to baby showers, and can be among the most unforgettable experiences of the occasion. A significant element that makes a successful baby shower is through careful party planning, as well as fun baby shower games.

A baby shower game can both be entertaining and silly. Some baby shower games are intended to “playfully embarrass” the mom-to-be or dad-to-be, but most others are really designed for enjoyment and even teach a lesson or two. The “prize” promise, no matter how small, gives the games an added excitement.

Before beginning baby shower games, it is advisable for the host to do some icebreakers first, and have all the guests introduce themselves and say something about the mom-to-be. Check out some of these good baby shower games intended for adding more fun and verve to the party.

Guess The Girth”

This game can be enjoyable, but it is always good to ask ahead of time if the mom-to-be is ok with it. Some pregnant women might find the game a little bit personal, but if the guest of honor is not shy about it, then it’ll be lots of fun. What is needed as game material, is ball of string. Request the guests to cut a length from the string, which they think will fit around the belly of the mom-to-be.

When every guest has cut their strings, the mom measures her belay and cuts a string of the right size. Guests compare their string lengths to the mom’s and whoever has the exact or closest length, wins the game. The fun lies in how the guests estimate the tummy; one can be surprise in their string lengths. This game is perfect for ice breakers and some good laughs.

“Baby Picture Match Game”

Prior to the occasion, ask every guest for photos when they were still babies. Gather the photos and place them on a board, assigning a number for each one. During the occasion, hand out paper sheets and let the guests match the photos to the right grown-up. For guests who are not very much familiar with each other, name tags are a great help. The guest who earns the most right answers wins.

“Baby Quiz”

As the parents of the mom-to-be what she was like as a baby, and include important information such as weight, height, birth time, first smile, first-tooth, early signs of her personality. Basing on the given information, create a quiz about the mom-to-be and hand them out to guests. The guest with the most right answers wins the prize.

“Swaddle/Dress The Baby”

Provide a “life-size” baby doll, cloth diaper, receiving blanket, diaper wrap, and onesie. Game participants will take turns in trying to swaddle or dress the baby. Every participant will be timed, and the one with the fastest performance wins.

“Melt The Ice”

A day prior to the baby shower, freeze miniature pacifiers, diaper pins, small plastic babies, or other like items in trays of ice cube. Give every guest a piece of ice cube in one glass of water or beverages. The first guest whose ice cube melts and have the frozen item floating in their glass shouts “My water broke!” and wins.

“Don’t Say Baby”

Give each guest a “clothespin” to be attached in their clothing and worn for the duration of the party. Tell all the guests not to say “baby” for the rest of the party. If somebody hears a guest say “baby” –which is rather hard not to say – they get to remove the other’s clothespin. At the party’s closing stages, the guest with the most clothespin wins.

Baby shower games provide fun and laughter during the party. They’re also great icebreakers to avoid a “boring” baby shower –after all, baby showers are suppose to be a happy welcome for the new life.
