Disposable Diapers

Diapers are the baby products which every parent cannot live without. They help parents with some of the messiest and most difficult tasks in child-rearing. And as if the debate on disposable diapers versus cloth diapers does not offer enough confusion, parents have to contend with the various styles, brands, and add-on features of the throw-way kind.

When buying disposable baby diapers, you may find yourself grabbing several packs of a certain brand or size. This might be a good idea if you’re buying bulk for a good price, but stocking up disposable diapers for a newborn baby, or one that hasn’t even been born yet, is entirely impractical.

Parents should be aware of the fact that babies are not born with the same weight range. Some are a lot heavier than others. Also, newborns typically outgrow their initial diaper size very fast. Thus, you might end up with loads of unused small disposable diapers, and a not so small diaper-user. There are even some newborn babies who do not really go through the newborn sizes. So, if you intend to have a disposable baby diaper ready by the time your baby is born, make sure that you buy the smallest pack. You can always just shop for more when you already have a clear picture of how big or small your baby is.

Most parents of newborns are concerned about disposable diapers which cover the umbilical cord area. There are newborn diapers which are pre-cut at the umbilical part. Although this feature is convenient, it is not really necessary to shell out more money for these. Parents can simply fold the waistband of regular disposable diapers, or you may also cut the front waistband, just enough to show the cord stump.

Choosing a particular brand from among the baby disposable diapers in the market can be very tricky. This is because majority of the diapers are designed and manufactured with the slightest variations from each other. Thus, it is very possible that you’ll end up buying a more expensive brand, but which has basically the same quality and materials as the cheaper ones.

Because there such a vast selection of disposable diaper brands, it is highly likely that parents have to try out more than one brand, in order to find the one which works well for their babies.

There are several ways to determine of a particular brand is not right for your baby. One, if the disposable diaper is leaking at the baby’s back, legs, and everywhere at the same time, then it’s either you bought the wrong brand, or the size was way too big.

Some brands of disposable diapers may also irritate the baby’s skin, or trigger allergies. If you haven’t tried out that particular brand yet, it is best that you buy a small pack and see if it does not cause the baby to develop rashes or allergies. Since disposable diapers have been associated with an increased risk in diaper rash, it is important to be careful in your selection.

Although “specialized” disposable diapers are expensive than the regular ones, these are known to work best for most babies. Some brands have diapers specially-designed for either boys or girls, or for walking or crawling babies. Since boys and girls have different “patterns” of urinating, specialty diapers are a good alternative. Also, night disposable diapers are available to cater to the prolonged hours of diaper use.

Most parents nowadays are busy juggling work and child-rearing. Thus, the time spent on washing cloth diapers may as well be spent on rest, recreation, and more time with the baby.
