Sleepers
The modern designs and styles of baby clothes have begun a completely new market in clothing. What used to be boring and plain sleepers have become exciting bedtime fashion for babies.
Baby clothes are actually categorized into three groups: daytime wear, nighttime or sleep wear, and outdoors clothes. The baby sleepers are undoubtedly more important than the two others. This is due to the fact that these are the clothes which babies tend to wear most often and longer.
Infant sleepers are the most important clothes to buy. Newborns or the very young babies spend a great deal of their time sleeping. Thus, parents should make sure that these are where they invest their money on for the initial months after birth. Since young infants won’t do anything much except sleep and feed, sleepers are about the only clothes they’ll ever wear.
When choosing from among the sleepers available, make sure that they meet the same criteria as the day clothes, that is, with regards to comfort and convenience. Since getting ready for bed is among the day’s most relaxing parts, comfort should not be compromised. There are several other factors to consider when buying sleepers. For one, the choice of going for clothes with flame retardants. Parents do not have the same stand on this issue. In fact, while there are parents who insist on letting their babies wear flame retardant sleepers, there are also others who do not think so much of these garments because of the chemical used to produce them.
Due to the fact that there are opposing beliefs on this matter, experts have suggested that babies should be made to wear close-fitting or right-sized sleeper instead of long gowns. Thus, if babies get near a source of flame, their clothes won’t catch fire as easily.
The use of blankets over sleepers on babies is highly-discouraged because it is a potential cause of suffocation. Dressing them in one piece baby sleepers eliminates this worry, and will make the baby sleep much more comfortably. Toys and other fabrics should be kept out of the baby’s crib as these can shift about and cover his face, causing him to suffocate.
Another important factor to consider when buying sleepers is its material and design. A good choice of baby sleeper is one that has soft, light fabric. This allows moisture in the body to evaporate fast, and prevents excessive sweating, especially during the warm months. It should also feature smooth seams, and should have large openings for convenient wardrobe changes. Further, buttons are not safe to use as these may be accidentally swallowed by the baby. Clothes with covered zippers are better alternatives.
Organic sleepers are available as well. The fabrics are said to be free from harmful chemicals, or have gone through minimal treatment processes. These are believed to offer the skin a reduced exposure to possible irritants.
Since babies rapidly outgrow their clothes, it is wise to buy bigger-sized ones. This does not mean though that we choose several sizes larger than necessary. Otherwise, the baby will be swimming in his clothes. Choosing sizes smaller than your baby’s actual size can be harmful to him as well. Since the size is important, make sure that you buy those sleepers which provide the most comfortable fit.
Some parents’ typical worry is whether or not they need to bundle up their babies while sleeping. Although bundling up is good in newborns very young babies, it should not be done if it sacrifices, comfort, convenience, or warmth.
Babies are bundles of joy. Since parents recognize this fact, choosing the best baby products are considered as life’s biggest challenges.
